ADMISSIONS - APPLICATIONS

Each year we enroll about 55 students with very diverse academic and work backgrounds. These students all come with a desire to add to their knowledge and to share their experience.

Due to the limited space in the MBA class, RU cannot offer admission to each applicant. We evaluate all parts of the application and specifically we evaluate applicants on intellectual vitality, leadership potential and personal qualities and contributions. An important goal in the admission process is to create a group with diverse educational backgrounds and work experience. We want students who contribute to the classroom and are willing to share their experiences, because we believe that all students learn invaluable lessons from sharing experiences and perspectives with classmates from many different backgrounds.

Interviews are by invitation only and will be conducted in Icelandic and English. 

 

 

Prerequisites

• Undergraduate degree
• Work Experience (at least 3 years)
• Good command of the English language

All applicants must submit an electronic application and attach the required accompanying documents.

Required Documents with application

• Curriculum Vitae with picture (CV)
• Official Transcripts of diplomas
• Two personal statements:
  1. Why do you want to pursue an MBA (up to 500 words)?
  2. Discuss your short term and long term goals post MBA. (up to 500 words)
• Two letters of recommendation from individuals who can assess the applicant's abilities to participate successfully in the MBA programme.

Standard reccomendation form can be found here. The letters can be in either Icelandic or English. Letters of Reccomendations shall be submitted directly to Reykjavik University in a sealed envelope.

 

Application deadlines

There are two recommended deadlines for applications, round 1 and round 2. However, all applications are processed as they come in and a response is provided within 20 business days.

Round 1:

Application received by the 7th of April 2009 and decisions will be posted the 7th of May.

Round 2:

Application received by the 30th of May 2009 and decisions will be posted the 16th of June.

* Early applications are encouraged as places in the class may be limited in the second round.

Tution fees for MBA Class of 2011

Tuition fees are 812.500 IKR per semester. This covers the cost of all seminars, books, and other teaching materials. 
For the international seminars the tuition fees are 3000 Euros each. This covers the cost of teaching, materials, travel and accommodation. 

Students are required to take one international course (3 – 6 ECTS) in the third and the fourth semester. This requirement may be wavered in special circumstances.

The Icelandic Student Loan Fund (LÍN) grants tuition loans for the MBA programme. For information please refer to http://www.lin.is/.

The confirmation fee is 175.000 IKR and will be deducted from the first tuition payment.
