Admission requirements

Applicants should at minimum have very successfully completed (or be close to completing) a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science, or a related area, before applying to the program.

Application and notification deadlines are posted on the university web-site. Applications must be submitted electronically by the posted deadline. Each application must, however, be accompanied by the following documentation, which must be sent by regular mail (postmarked by the posted application deadline):

  • An official transcript of the undergraduate program, together with a statement of the ranking of the applicant with respect to other graduates from the program, if available.
  • Two letters of recommendation from faculty members (or others), who are familiar with the academic abilities of the applicant.
  • A “statement of purpose” which describes the future plans of the applicant, and how the MSc program at Reykjavík University can help the applicant reach his or her goals.
  • Any additional information that can aid in the assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the applicant.
  • For international students, GRE scores are strongly recommended.
  • For international students who are non-native English speakers, TOEFL scores, or comparable certifications are required.
  • For students from areas other than Computer Science: Detailed course listings from the undergraduate program. These students may be required to complete preparatory classes from the undergraduate program at Reykjavík University, before joining the MSc program or during it.

The supporting documentation must be mailed to:
